Cornish Call on the B Team as They Break New Ground in Cup!

Dickon Moon30 Jan - 10:43

Exiles face new opposition in last 16 of Cup.

On Saturday, London Cornish face runaway Counties 1 Kent league leaders Old Elthamians RFC in the RFU Community Counties 1 South Plate Round 3 (the last 16!) at the famous Queen Mary University East Sports Ground, famed due to its wooden stand built in 1938. Elthamians are one of a number of clubs like Richmond, London Scottish and London Welsh (but not it appears Worcester Warriors?!!) who are on the journey back up the leagues having been demoted all the way to the bottom of the league structure for financial reasons. They boast a formidable record in the various Cups in recent seasons and have won every league match this season with a bonus point, so are strong favourites to comfortably win this one. Cornish are buoyed by their fine performance against Hove last week, and the timely returns of 'the B team' in top try scorer George Bromage (pictured) and former Redruth full back Ben Boorman, which will help to mitigate the various injuries suffered in the backs in that match, Olly Shrubb also having recovered in time to play on Saturday. You can follow score updates on our X feed, while photos and a round up of the action will follow here later in the week.
