The club receives further tragic news of an early and untimely passing of one of its recent former players.

In the words of his former Dukes team mates Giles Beeby and Tom King:

"With deep sadness, we mourn the loss of our dear friend and teammate, Tom Lowe, who passed away recently after an 18 month battle with cancer. Tom was a formidable presence both on and off the field, known for his unwavering character and direct approach. A true rugby man, northerner, character and Duke. I first had the pleasure of playing alongside Tom with Old Nottinghamians, and later with the Dukes. His robust demeanor and firm kindness made him an invaluable part of our team and a bloody good bloke.

Tom's lack of sympathy for southerners was well-known, yet it only underscored his genuine nature and steadfast loyalty. He truly was the best of us, a man who could be relied upon to give his all, whether in a match or with his mates. It is incredibly sad that he is no longer with us, Tom Lowe – you will be greatly missed.

I also had the pleasure of joining Tom on his first ever ski trip, where we finally found out that yes… Tom Lowe does shit in the woods!"
